Long ago, back in the year 1805 a local co-operative of farmers living in Norton Fitzwarren, south of the main town of Taunton, got together to produce the first batch of the very popular brew of scrumptious Somerset Cider. When the local Reverend Cornish joined the conglomerate in early the 1900’s and the apples from the Heathfield Rectory where used the Taunton Cider Company was formally unveiled and the once small local business soon went from strength to strength. Using traditional methods, modern techniques, and the finest Bittersweet apples the Taunton Cider brand has been tried and tested all over the World.
Local residents swear that it has great health benefits and if you drink the Cider regularly it will even help you live longer. The very happy elderly population of the town enjoy Live in Care Taunton as they continue to manage life independently with just a little help from their Live in Care company.
Production was halted in the middle of the 1990’s after a multi-million-pound acquisition by Matthew Clerk a drinks wholesaler took control. The TCC was then bought back to life and since then the tasty local brew has won several awards including an International nomination and received a Highly Commended result in 2017 as well as a Bronze from the British Bottlers Institute.
Taunton Cider is now freely available to buy directly though the Company or online at www.tolchards.com.
